On Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 10am to Noon, LizAnne and Ken Jensen, on behalf of BDFSC will present a workshop on Wildfire Preparations at  377 Westdale Drive (directions and parking below). It will feature:

• • Demonstration of roof sprinkler system

  • Demonstration of eve mister system

  • Demonstration of pool high-pressure water pump

  • Creating a Photo inventory

  • Evacuation checklists – broken out by how much time you have (10 minutes, 2-hours, 8-hours)

  • Signage with instructions for firefighters

  • The importance of Ham radio when other communications are down

  • Demonstration of seven 1-1/2" fire hose run outs to protect property

  • Multiple strategies for making structures more fire resistant

    • Five-foot defensible space around structures (what we've done and what still needs to be done)

    • Thirty-foot defensible space (what we've done and what still needs to be done)

    • One hundred foot defensible space (what we've done and what still needs to be done)

    • Collaboration with neighbors: homegrown shaded fuel break connected to neighbor's property

  • Backup Water Sources: Two 5000 gallon holding tanks and 12000-gallon pool and how we plan to use them

  • Backup Generator and Booster Pump

  • Neighborhood Alarm System

  • Tour of Fuel reduction work along Westdale Drive
